Scolymia corals are some of the most stunning corals for a reef tank. They come in many colorations, but their general care is the same. They need moderate lighting. They can be placed on the bottom of most tanks depending on the type of lighting. They prefer moderate flow. High flow will cause the flesh to be cut against the skeleton. Scolys can sting other corals but they must touch them, as they do not put out sweeper tentacles.
They have many tentacles used for feeding. They will react when a general food is added to that tank like Reef Cafe. They also benefit from direct feeding when larger. You can feed them whole krill as well. Just like any other stony coral they require a calcium and magnesium supplement for ideal water conditions. If water conditions are incorrect the corals flesh will receed and show the skeleton. Even after it has receeded it can still recover when the water conditions are corrected.
